La compañía catarí asegura que no quiere aumentar más su 
presencia en el grupo de British, Iberia y Vueling
La presencia de la aerolínea catarí Qatar Airways en uno de los principales grupos de aviación europeo, IAG el holding propietario de British Airways, Iberia y Vueling, este lunes ha anunciado que ha pasado del 4,34% al 20,01% de la participación accionarial. También ha anunciado que este es, por ahora, su límite y ha justificado la compra por considerarlo una oportunidad atractiva. De hecho, las accionewse de IAG han 
perdido alrededor de una cuarta parte de su capitalización desde que el Reino Unido, el principal mercado del grupo, votó en junio a favor de abandonar la Unión Europea (UE).
Qatar Airways entró en el capital de IAG hace un año y medio. Sus responsables insisten en 
que la nueva compra será la última, a no ser que se produzcan cambios legales. Con la legislación vigente, los inversores extranjeros no pueden tener más de un 49% de una aerolínea europea, como requisito que obliga a las
aerolíneas europeas a ser mayormente propiedad de accionistas europeos.
El director ejecutivo de Qatar Airways, Akbar Al Baker, ha asegurado que su compañía continúa apoyando la estrategia de IAG y su equipo.
