Lo anunció el Secretario de Estado John Kerry de Estados Unidos para facilitar el ingreso a los ciudadanos argentinos
Los incluyó en el programa Global Entry, que evita interactuar en los aeropuertos con los oficiales de migraciones.
Los argentinos que visiten Estados Unidos por turismo o negocios podrán ingresar a ese país mediante puestos electrónicos que leen pasaportes sin necesidad de interactuar con oficiales de inmigración, según acordaron autoridades de ambos países.
De visita en el país, el secretario de Estado norteamericano, John Kerry, anunció la medida en la conferencia de prensa que dio en la Cancillería. Aseguró que la inclusión de la Argentina en el programa denominado Global Entry, servirá para “facilitar los negocios y el turismo”. Aunque seguirá vigente el requisito de la visa.
Desde el Ministerio de Seguridad, en tanto, se informó que se proyecta la ampliación del programa Global Entry a determinados ciudadanos argentinos “que cumplan con las condiciones para ser considerados viajeros confiables. La implementación se realizará de manera coordinada entre ambas naciones con la información provista y a través de las distintas bases de datos”.
Según explica la Aduana de Estados Unidos en su sitio web, el Global Entry “permite una autorización exprés para viajeros de bajo riesgo y pre aprobados en su arribo a Estados Unidos”. Estos viajeros ingresan a los Estados Unidos a través de kioscos automáticos que están habilitados en unos 60 aeropuertos, entre ellos los más utilizados por los argentinos: Miami, Orlando, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Houston, Atlanta y el John F. Kennedy de Nueva York.
Otros países que también fueron incluidos en el Global Entry son México, Reino Unido, Alemania, Países Bajos, Panamá y Corea del Sur. Para poder acceder a este beneficio, los argentinos que viajen a los Estados Unidos deberán tener una aprobación previa. Cualquiera sea su edad, deben crear una cuenta en el sitio Global Online Enrollment System (GOES) de la Aduana estadounidense. Una vez que tengan esa cuenta y completen el formulario, deberán abonar una tasa no reembolsable de 100 dólares por cinco años de duración. Una vez que la solicitud es aprobada, deberán realizar una entrevista para obtener finalmente el Global Entry.
No podrán utilizar este programa quienes hayan mentido durante el proceso de aplicación; quienes tengan antecedentes penales, o enfrenten procesos penales (incluido por conducir en estado de ebriedad); quienes hayan violado leyes aduaneras o regulaciones agrícolas en cualquier país del mundo; quienes estén bajo investigación de una agencia federal, estatal o local en los Estados Unidos; y quienes no satisfagan los estándares para ser considerado un visitante de bajo riesgo por las autoridades migratorias.
