Mientras que Airbus ha liderado el volumen de pedidos de aviones durante años, ha sido Boeing el que ha ido por delante desde 2012 en entregas.

El nuevo director de Operaciones de Airbus cree “importante desde un punto de vista estratégico echar raíces no sólo en Europa sino también en los dos principales mercados del mundo: EE UU y China. En EE UU tenemos 1.100 empleados, de una oficina de desarrollo de servicio al cliente y la formación de pilotos. La planta de Mobile nos hace aún más visibles ahora y nos da la oportunidad de desarrollar relaciones sólidas con los clientes y proveedores”.

“Cuando en mayo de 2012 se decidió fabricar en EE UU sabíamos que necesitábamos una capacidad adicional debido al gran éxito de la familia A320. En EE UU se necesitarán 4.700 aviones de corto y medio radio como el A320 en los próximos 20 años. También tenemos la producción futura en la zona del dólar, lo que ayuda a largo plazo para compensar las diferencias de cambio”, añade Brégier.

“En el momento de aquella decisión, nuestra cuota de mercado de entregas en EE UU no llegaba al 20%. Incluyendo los nuevos contratos en los dos últimos nuestra cuota de mercado ya ha subido al 40% y esperamos poder aumentar hasta el 50% del mercado norteamericano con  la nueva planta”.

“En EE UU es importante mostrar que el avión se fabricará en el país. Este es un punto a favor, y en algunos casos, será crucial. El avión de fabricación local con destino a América del Norte tiene un gran mercado. A largo plazo, tendremos oportunidad para las exportaciones, pero ese no es el objetivo”, agrega. 

Airbus intends to overtake Boeing in deliveries for 2020

Frankfort, Germany · Airbus aims to outperform its American competitor Boeing in aircraft deliveries in 2020, declared Monday the German newspaper Die Welt CEO from January and also Director of Operations European aerospace consortium, Fabrice Brégier.
