La nueva aerolínea internacional Samoa Airways de Samoa y Fiji Airways han firmado un acuerdo para buscar conjuntamente una serie de oportunidades comerciales

El consejero delegado de Fiji Airways, Andre Viljoen, dijo que el Memorandum de Entendimiento (MOU) permitirá a Fiji Airways ayudar a la nueva operación de la aerolínea internacional  Samoa Airways a ponerse en marcha.

El objetivo era conseguir que la propia línea aérea de Samoa fuera independiente y autosuficiente. «El borde del Pacífico, si puedo llamarlo, donde vivimos, es nuestro, no de las aerolíneas extranjeras. Debemos controlar y dominar el espacio aéreo aquí y traer a los turistas, y estoy muy contento de que se trate de un importante paso adelante en esa dirección, donde controlamos nuestro propio futuro», dijo Andre Viljoen.

El presidente ejecutivo de Polynesian Airlines, Seiuli Alvin Tuala, dijo que Samoa es una de las economías en crecimiento en el Pacífico, disfrutando de un buen crecimiento, pero necesita más turistas y dijo que la asociación con Fiji Airways ofrece acceso a mercados en Europa.
