Sky Airline encomienda órden por 10 Airbus A321NEO XLR

Sky Airline una arolínea de ultra bajo costo con sede en Chile, ha firmado un acuerdo de compra con Airbus por 10 A321XLRs. La aerolínea ampliará su red de rutas internacionales con los nuevos aviones.

El A321XLR es el siguiente paso evolutivo en la Familia A320NEO/ A321NEO, satisfacer las necesidades del mercado para un mayor alcance y carga útil en un avión de un solo pasillo. El A321XLR entregará una de fuselaje estrecho rango avión sin precedentes de hasta 4.700nm, con un 30% menor consumo de combustible por asiento en comparación con chorros competidor de la generación anterior, permitiendo a las aerolíneas para ampliar las redes haciendo rutas más largas nueva económicamente viable.

“Esta nueva flota de aviones nos permitirá ampliar nuestra oferta de rutas internacionales y de amplio alcance, siempre bajo nuestro modelo de bajo costo con éxito y sus precios de los billetes extremadamente convenientes. Ahora los pasajeros pueden disfrutar de destinos nuevos y muy atractivos en la mayoría de los aviones modernos en el mercado», dijo Holger Paulmann, CEO de SKY.

Arturo Barreira, Presidente de Airbus América Latina, dijo: “Estamos encantados de que SKY ha seleccionado la A321XLR para ampliar aún más su flota de todos los aviones Airbus. El A321XLR permitirá SKY ofrecer a sus clientes nuevos destinos, como vuelos directos desde Santiago de Chile a Miami en los Estados Unidos”.

Según la última Previsión Global del Mercado de Airbus (GMF), América Latina necesitará 2.700 nuevos aviones en los próximos 20 años, la flota más del doble de hoy. El tráfico de pasajeros en América Latina se ha duplicado desde 2002 y se espera que continúe creciendo en los próximos dos decenios. Específicamente en Chile, se espera que el tráfico aumentará de 0,89 viajes por habitante de 2,26 viajes en el 2038. En paralelo a la creciente flota, según el último GMF de Airbus habrá un nee d de 47.550 nuevos pilotos y 64.160 técnicos para ser entrenados en los próximos 20 años en América Latina. Para cubrir esta necesidad SKY también seleccionado Airbus como proveedor de entrenamiento de vuelo, por lo que la aerolínea el cliente de lanzamiento para el nuevo Centro de Formación de Chile Airbus. El centro ofrecerá formación de la tripulación de vuelo para los pilotos chilenos e incluirá un simulador de vuelo completo A320.

Sky Airline ha sido un cliente de Airbus desde 2010 y se convirtió en un operador de Airbus en 2013. La flota de la línea aérea de 23 aviones de la Familia A320 sirve rutas nacionales e internacionales que conectan Chile a Argentina, Brasil, Perú y Uruguay.

Airbus ha vendido 1.200 aviones, tiene un retraso de más de 600 y más de 700 en funcionamiento en toda América Latina y el Caribe, lo que representa una cuota de mercado del 60% de la flota en servicio. Desde 1994, Airbus ha conseguido casi el 70% de los pedidos netos en la región.

Sky Airline, an ultra-low-cost airline based in Chile, has signed a purchase agreement with Airbus for 10 A321XLRs. The airline will expand its network of international routes with the new aircraft.

The A321XLR is the next evolutionary step in the A320NEO/A321NEO Family, meeting the needs of the market for greater reach and payload in a single-aisle aircraft. The A321XLR will deliver an unprecedented narrow airframe range of up to 4,700nm, with 30% lower fuel consumption per seat compared to previous-generation competitor jets, allowing airlines to expand networks by making longer routes economically new viable.

“This new fleet of aircraft will allow us to expand our offer of international and wide-ranging routes, always under our successful low-cost model and its extremely convenient ticket prices. Now passengers can enjoy new and very attractive destinations on most modern airplanes in the market”, said Holger Paulmann, CEO of SKY.

Arturo Barreira, President of Airbus América Latina, said: “We are delighted that SKY has selected the A321XLR to further expand its fleet of all Airbus aircraft. The A321XLR will allow SKY to offer its customers new destinations, such as direct flights from Santiago de Chile to Miami in the United States”.

According to the latest Global Airbus Market Forecast (GMF), Latin America will need 2,700 new aircraft in the next 20 years, the fleet more than double today. Passenger traffic in Latin America has doubled since 2002 and is expected to continue growing in the next two decades. Specifically in Chile, traffic is expected to increase from 0.89 trips per inhabitant to 2.26 trips in 2038. In parallel to the growing fleet, according to the last Airbus GMF, there will be a need of 47,550 new pilots and 64,160 technicians to be trained in the next 20 years in Latin America. To cover this need, SKY also selected Airbus as a flight training provider, making the airline the launch customer for the new Chile Airbus Training Center. The center will offer flight crew training for Chilean pilots and will include a full A320 flight simulator.

Sky Airline has been an Airbus customer since 2010 and became an Airbus operator in 2013. The airline fleet of 23 A320 Family aircraft serves national and international routes connecting Chile to Argentina, Brazil, Peru, and Uruguay.
