MH370 area high priority search
Researchers identify a high priority area in the search for flight MH370
MH370 flight researchers have identified three new possible locations in the southern Indian Ocean categorizing one as a high priority of the possible location of the Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777-200ER aircraft. The MH370 disappeared on March 8, 2014, with 239 passengers and crew on board and, while the debris was recovered, the remains of the main body did not, despite two extensive searches.
The Malaysian Government has stated that it needs new tests before starting a new search. After extensive research, researchers have defined a new area for the remains of flight MH370, adjacent to those previously covered along what is known as the seventh arc, west of Western Australia. Victor Iannello, Bobby Ulich, Richard Godfrey, and Andrew Banks identified the areas of interest in their document «Search recommendations for MH370». The document says: “The last search for MH370 was conducted by Ocean Infinity, who consulted with official and independent researchers and subsequently scanned the seabed along the seventh arc north to latitude S25. Since then, independent research has continued to analyze the available data to understand which areas of the seabed are the most likely and why previous search efforts have not been successful. The results of our work suggest that the last hours of the flight were due south in the Indian Ocean along the length E93.7875, which coincides with a large circle between the BEDAX reference point (approximately 100 NM west of Banda Aceh, Sumatra) and the South Pole». ![]()

American-Mechanics reach tentative agreement
The new salary agreement will allow obtaining bonuses that vary from US$ 3,000 to US$ 6,000 and salary increases between 4% to 18%. This adds to the increases in the payment rate between 23% and 56%, provided by American in 2016. The contract includes a benefit-sharing formula from the best industry that could be a precedent. It provides 10% of the first US$ 2.5 billion of income before American taxes, as well as 20% of income before taxes above US$ 2.5 billion.
The agreement also protects against outsourcing and relocation, two problems that were important for the two unions, the International Association of Machinists and the Transport Workers Union. Together, they represent about 31,000 mechanics and fleet service workers at American. TWU President John Samuelsen said: “This contract is a victory for union members. We have ensured an industry-leading salary increase, significantly improved our working conditions and, more importantly, we increase the amount of aircraft maintenance work that will be done in the United States».
