Artemis I llega al SLS del Centro Espacial Kennedy
El cohete construido por The Boeing Company para el Space Launch System (SLS) de la NASA fue descargado de una barcaza este 29/04 en el Centro Espacial Kennedy y trasladado al Edificio de Ensamblaje de Vehículos. La Etapa Central de 212 pies (65 metros) se apilará con una etapa superior criogénica provisional de Boeing/United Launch Alliance, dos propulsores de cohetes sólidos, un adaptador de escenario de vehículo de lanzamiento y la nave espacial Orion. Los equipos prepararán el SLS para lanzar Orion en una misión desenroscada alrededor de la Luna y de retorno, llamada Artemis I.

Artemis I arrives at the SLS at Kennedy Space Center
The rocket built by The Boeing Company for NASA‘s Space Launch System (SLS) was unloaded from a barge on 04/29 at the Kennedy Space Center and transferred to the Vehicle Assembly Building. The 212-foot (65-meter) Center Stage will be stacked with a Boeing/United Launch Alliance interim cryogenic upper stage, two solid rocket boosters, a launch vehicle stage adapter and the Orion spacecraft. The teams will prepare the SLS to launch Orion on an uncoiled mission around the Moon and back, called Artemis I.
The first in a series of increasingly complex missions, Artemis I will test the Orion spacecraft and the SLS rocket as an integrated system prior to manned flights to the Moon for sustained exploration. Sls is the only rocket that can send Orion, astronauts and cargo to the Moon in a single mission.
Boeing is NASA’s prime contractor for the SLS core and upper stages and avionics. The company joins leading elements for the Artemis II center stage now at NASA’s Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans, while manufacturing center stage elements for Artemis III. The company is also working on scalable capabilities for the rocket system such as the Exploration Upper Stage, which is entering production at the Michoud facility.
