La delegación de la empresa pública Promotur Turismo de Canarias, dependiente de la Consejería de Turismo, Cultura y Deportes, compuesta por la directora gerente, María Méndez y la directora del Departamento de Estudios e Investigación, María Guardiet, está presente hasta este martes en la principal feria mundial de rutas aéreas que se celebra este año en Chengdu, China, y a la que acuden 3.000 delegados, 300 líneas aéreas de todo el mundo y 700 aeropuertos. Ambas han mantenido una treintena de reuniones en la ‘World Routes 2016‘ entre las que destacan los encuentros con Air Canadá y American Airlines. María Méndez destacó que “las conversaciones con ambas compañías van por buen camino y podrían dar lugar a la apertura de rutas entre Canarias y Canadá y EE.UU a medio plazo, quizá en 2018”.
Por su parte, la consejera de Turismo, Cultura y Deportes, María Teresa Lorenzo destacó “la importancia de la conectividad para la diversificación de la economía canaria”, y anunció que otras regiones europeas están trasladando su interés por el Fondo de Desarrollo de Vuelos de Canarias “con el objetivo de implantar uno similar en su territorio”. La ‘World Routes 2016’ ha servido también de escaparate a la Consejería de Turismo, Cultura y Deportes para presentar dos nuevas rutas entre Gran Canaria y Tenerife y el Aeropuerto de Nantes, en Francia. Ambas son fruto del Fondo de Desarrollo de Vuelos y empezarán a operar en noviembre con la compañía Vueling.
EL ‘BREXIT’ NO HA TENIDO INCIDENCIA
Por otro lado, tras los contactos mantenidos por la delegación del Gobierno de Canarias se ha podido constatar que el ‘Brexit’ no ha tenido ninguna incidencia en las líneas aéreas e, incluso, hay más operaciones programadas entre Canarias y Reino Unido para el próximo año. Delta Airlines, United Airlines, LATAM, Lufhthansa, KLM, Qatar Airways, Turkish Airlines, Alitalia, SAS, Easyjet, Vueling, Norwegian, Sunexpress, Brussels Airlines y Germania son algunas de las líneas aéreas con las que el equipo del Gobierno de Canarias ha mantenido reuniones en la feria. La situación por la que atraviesa la conectividad en Canarias es la mejor de todos los tiempos. Según datos del departamento de Investigación y Conectividad de Promotur Turismo de Canarias, entidad dependiente de la Consejería de Turismo, Cultura y Deportes del Gobierno de Canarias, desde abril de este mismo año hasta marzo de 2017, se habrán establecido más de 150 nuevas rutas áreas regulares hacia las islas, hasta alcanzar una cifra total cercana a las 850 y 150 aeropuertos conectados de manera directa con el archipiélago. El contacto permanente con responsables de líneas aéreas de todo el mundo, la asistencia a foros internacionales especializados, el establecimiento de líneas conjuntas de trabajo, los convenios de co-marketing con las entidades insulares de promoción turística o el Fondo de Desarrollo de Vuelos, que facilita la apertura de nuevas rutas, son algunas de las herramientas empleadas por Promotur Turismo de Canarias para impulsar este crecimiento.
ASISTENCIA A ROUTES
La asistencia de Turismo de Canarias a las distintas ediciones de Routes ha sido una constante en los últimos años y engloba una línea de trabajo que ha contribuido a que desde abril de 2016 hasta marzo de 2017 las líneas aéreas oferten 2,7 millones de plazas en Canarias, y unas previsiones para esta temporada de invierno de casi un 20% de mejora de la conectividad aérea en línea regular. En el marco de la ‘World Routes 2016’ también está previsto mantener reuniones con Wizz Air y Primera Air, aerolíneas que estrenarán este invierno nuevas conexiones con Canarias gracias al Fondo de Desarrollo de Vuelos, instrumento de promoción del Gobierno de Canarias para la mejora de la conectividad de las islas con los mercados emisores. Entre los aeropuertos, cabe destacar las reuniones previstas con el aeropuerto de Estambul y el de Tel Aviv, dos ciudades desde las que podrían salir, en el futuro, nuevas rutas hacia las islas. La conectividad aérea es un objetivo prioritario para el Gobierno de Canarias por su contribución al desarrollo económico del archipiélago y clave en la estrategia de diversificación de mercados turísticos. Para ello, Turismo de Canarias, además de asistir a foros especializados, colabora con las aerolíneas intercambiando información relevante y apoyando el lanzamiento de nuevas rutas con acciones promocionales en los diferentes mercados con los que existe conectividad.
