JetSmart Airlines, la nueva aerolínea ultra low cost de Chile está próxima a despegar de sus rutas, frecuencias y valores
La línea aérea JetSmart Airlines en su primera etapa conectará en su red de rutas Santiago con las ciudades de Calama, Antofagasta, Copiapó, La Serena, Concepción, Puerto Montt y Temuco en la República de Chile. También se suman a las rutas inter-regionales entre Concepción y Calama; Concepción y Antofagasta; Concepción y Puerto Montt; y entre Antofagasta y La Serena. Iniciará sus operaciones con aeronaves Airbus A320CEO utilizando motores IAE V2500 de la International Aero Engine.
JeSmart Airlines forma parte del capital de inversión privado estadounidense Indigo Partners LLC. Indigo tiene acreditado más de 15 años de experiencia en la aviación mundial. Cuenta con inversiones en Frontier Airlines (Estados Unidos), Volaris (México) y Wizz Air (Hungría).
Modalidad Ultra Low Cost
En su página web jetsmart.com, los pasajes tendrán una aplicación de cobro por tramo. “Es la necesidad prioritaria de quien viaja. Si alguien requiere llevar equipaje de mano o de bodega o irse adelante porque necesita bajarse rápido del avión, entonces elegirá esos productos opcionales y eso se decide en cada viaje”, explicó Ortiz.
Si una persona transporta bolso de mano no paga adicional, pero si quiere llevar en la cabina equipaje de mano (de hasta un máximo de 10 kgs.) o llevarlo en la bodega, como equipaje facturado (máximo 23 kgs.), puede pagar entre $5.000 (pesos chilenos) si lo compra online; o hasta $22.000 si lo deja para pagar en el aeropuerto.
El pasaje que ofrece JetSmart incluye un asiento aleatorio, o sea al azar, pero para quienes prefieren seleccionar su asiento, pueden cancelar un valor que va desde los $2.000 hasta los $7.000, según la ubicación que soliciten y en el momento en que adquiera este opcional. Un asiento en primera fila, requiere el pago de $6.000 extra al ticket si se compra previo a la llegada al aeropuerto y de $7.000 si es en ese recinto, por ejemplo. Por $15.000 se puede modificar la fecha de un vuelo, mientras que por $40.000 el nombre del ticket.
“Todos los que hasta ahora no han podido volar, y viajan en bus porque no tienen más opción, podrán viajar en avión”, prometió en una conferencia el CEO de JetSmart, Estuardo Ortiz.
Seguridad versus Low-cost
La llegada de las low-cost / low fare o bajo costo / bajo precio permite introducir el debate sobre el comportamiento de muchas aerolíneas de esta modalidad. JetSmart expresó que cuentan con la Certificación de Operador Aéreo por parte de la Dirección General de Aeronáutica Civil (DGAC), cosa que les exige cumplir con todas las regulaciones y requisitos de seguridad demandados en Chile.

Moviéndose al compás de las low-cost, la aerolínea Latam lanzó durante tres horas una oferta para viajar en Santiago y Puerto Montt por sólo $22.000, ida y vuelta este miércoles.
