Cathay Pacific Group ha firmado un memorando de entendimiento (MoU) con el constructor Airbus para la adquisición de 32 A321NEO para su filial Cathay Dragon. La compra está valuada en U$D 4.064 millones de dólares (3.450 millones de euros). Las aeronaves se incorporarán entre 2020-2023.
La renovación e introducción de estas nuevas aeronaves servirán para el reemplazo y ampliación de su flota de narrowbodies. Los aviones pasarán a formar parte de la flota de la aerolínea regional del grupo, Cathay Dragon, para unir desde su base en Hong Kong para conectar su red de servicios en Asia.
La compañía Cathay Dragon opera actualamente 23 aeronaves narrowbodies y 24 A330-300. La red de Cathay Dragon abarca actualmente 56 destinos, entre ellos 28 en China continental. “Esta adquisición permitirá añadir nuevos destinos a la red de Cathay Dragon, así como incrementar la frecuencia y la eficiencia operativa”, declaró el consejero delegado de la compañía, Rupert Hogg. Esta renovación hará posible, tal y como apuntó el fabricante, expandir su capacidad para hacer frente al crecimiento del mercado en a nivel regional.
El constructor Airbus ha explicado que el A321NEO podrá transportar 240 pasajeros e incorpora elementos tecnológicos que permitirán una reducción en el consumo de combustible un 20%/pax con un rango operativo de 7.400 kilómetros non-stop.

Cathay Pacific Group has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Airbus builder for the acquisition of 32 A321NEO for its subsidiary Cathay Dragon. The purchase is valued at US $ 4.064 billion (3.450 million euros). The aircraft will be incorporated between 2020-2023.
The renovation and introduction of these new aircraft will serve to replace and expand its fleet of narrowbodies. The aircraft will be part of the fleet of the group’s regional airline, Cathay Dragon, to unite from its base in Hong Kong to connect its service network in Asia.
