Ceremonia por el accidente aéreo del vuelo AA587 de American Airlines

El alcalde de Nueva York, de Blasio, homenajeó el domingo a las víctimas del vuelo AA587 de American Airlines en un monumento a las familias para conmemorar el 16º aniversario del trágico accidente en Rockaway Park.

El 12 de noviembre de 2001, los estadounidenses todavía en estado de shock por los ataques del 11 de septiembre vieron imágenes de la televisión de los restos del avión Airbus A300-600 de American Airlines con destino a la República Dominicana que acababa de estrellarse en un barrio de Queens, nueva York. Al caer la tarde, las autoridades decían que el accidente del vuelo 587 de American Airlines parecía un accidente, no un terrorismo.

El vuelo con destino a la República Dominicana se precipitó a tierra minutos después de salir del Aeropuerto JFK, muriendo todas las 260 personas a bordo y cinco en el suelo. El accidente ocurrió justo dos meses después del 11 de septiembre, sacudiendo aún más una ciudad ya traumatizada.

The Mayor of New York, de Blasio, honored the victims of American Airlines Flight AA587 on Sunday at a memorial to families to commemorate the 16th anniversary of the tragic accident in Rockaway Park.

On November 12, 2001, Americans still in shock from the Sept. 11 attacks saw television footage of the wreckage of the American Airlines Airbus A300-600 plane bound for the Dominican Republic that had just crashed into a District of Queens, New York. At dusk, the authorities said that the crash of American Airlines Flight 587 looked like an accident, not terrorism.

The flight to the Dominican Republic rushed to the ground minutes after leaving JFK Airport, killing all 260 people on board and five on the ground. The accident occurred just two months after September 11, shaking an already traumatized city even more.      A\W
