Delta Air Lines ha anunciado el retiro de los Boeing 747-400 la «Reina de los Cielos» de su flota aerocomercial

El fin de una era parece poco a poco terminar con el reinado del «Jumbo» en los cielos del mundo. Delta Air Lines retirará el último Boeing 747-400 de la flota el 17 de Diciembre 2017.

Después de dar de baja la flota de Boewing 747-400 en United Airlines el mes pasado en un emotivo vuelo de despedida a Hawaii, ahora Delta ha anunciado el retiro del «Jumbo», conservando hasta el momento ser el único operador de pasajeros estadounidense del avión emblemático después del retiro del avión por parte de United Airlines.

Los últimos vuelos regulares del Boeing 747-400 de Delta finalizarán en Diciembre 2017. Delta Air Lines iniciará sus vuelos de despedida. La última salida internacional de la aerolínea del Boeing 747-400 será el 15 de Diciembre con el vuelo DL159 partiendo de Detroit hacia Seúl-Incheon, Corea del Sur. El último vuelo internacional retornará el 17 de Diciembre en el vuelo DL158 desde Seúl-Incheon hacia Detroit, Estados Unidos. Después de esos vuelos, la ruta de Detroit a Seúl se operará en su totalidad con el nuevo Airbus A350, cubriendo ampliamente el servicio prestado por los Jumbos de Delta.

Delta Air Lines llevará a la aeronave a una «gira de despedida de empleados» que tocará cuatro de los centros de la compañía aérea. Eso comienza el 18 de Diciembre, cuando Delta volará el Boeing 747-400 desde Detroit a Seattle. Luego, el avión irá a Atlanta el 19 de Diciembre antes de finalizar su recorrido en Minneapolis / St. Paul el 20 de Diciembre.
