Aerolínea griega registra pérdidas de € 227,9 millones en 2020

Aegean Airlines, la principal aerolínea griega, ha registrado en 2020 una pérdida neta de € 227,9 millones de Euros frente a las ganancias de € 78,5 millones que registró en 2019, a causa del impacto de la pandemia de la Coronavirus en el transporte aéreo, según anunció la compañía este Lunes 12/04. Las pérdidas antes del pago de impuestos fueron de € 296,8 millones de Euros, frente a los beneficios de € 106,7 millones del año anterior.

“El año 2020 fue sin duda el más difícil en la historia de la aviación. Trabajamos para mejorar aún más nuestra competitividad, pero también para desarrollar nuevos servicios que ofrecer a nuestros pasajeros una vez que se levanten gradualmente las restricciones”, destacó en un comunicado el Director Ejecutivo de Aegean, Dimitris Yeroyannis. El Director de Aegean ha expresado que las restricciones aún en vigor en toda Europa han tenido un gran impacto en los resultados del primer trimestre de 2021 y que espera una recuperación gradual a partir del segundo trimestre. El volumen de negocio de la compañía alcanzó los € 415,1 millones de Euros, lo que supone una caída del 68,3 % respecto al año anterior. Ha desarrollado un movimiento de 5.177.000 pasajeros, una reducción del 68,3% respecto a 2019, y se efectuaron 54.404 vuelos, una caída del 53% en comparación con los vuelos que despegaron el año anterior.

En Noviembre 2020, el Gobierno griego decidió inyectar a Aegean Airlines € 120 millones de Euros. Según el Ejecutivo, las ayudas al sector de las aerolíneas en la Unión Europea alcanzaron los € 32.000 millones de Euros/US$37.873,2 millones de Dólares. La contribución de Aegean Airlines, miembro de la alianza aérea Star Alliance desde 2010, a la economía griega alcanza normalmente los € 400 millones de Euros al año.

“Το 2020 ήταν αναμφίβολα το πιο δύσκολο στην ιστορία της αεροπορίας. Εργαζόμαστε για να βελτιώσουμε περαιτέρω την ανταγωνιστικότητά μας, αλλά και για να αναπτύξουμε νέες υπηρεσίες για να προσφέρουμε στους επιβάτες μας μόλις αρθούν σταδιακά οι περιορισμοί”, ανέφερε σε δήλωσή του. Σύμφωνα με την εκτελεστική εξουσία, η ενίσχυση στον τομέα των αεροπορικών εταιρειών στην Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση ανήλθε σε 32.000 εκατομμύρια ευρώ/37.873,2 εκατομμύρια δολάρια ΗΠΑ. Η συμβολή της Aegean Airlines, μέλους της συμμαχίας της Star Alliance από το 2010, στην ελληνική οικονομία φτάνει συνήθως τα 400 εκατομμύρια ευρώ ετησίως.
