Cayman Airways recibirá US$ 7 millones adicionales
Cayman Airways recibirá más ayudas económicas después de afrontar la crisis de los viajes provocada por la interrupción de los vuelos en todo el mundo. La línea aérea ha anunciado una segunda ayuda de US$ 7 millones de Dólares en fondos gubernamentales para cubrir sus gastos hasta finales de 2021. El Director Ejecutivo de Cayman Airways, Fabian Whorms, dijo al Comité de Finanzas en el Parlamento el Lunes 19/07 que los problemas relacionados con recibir una compensación por las dificultades que enfrentó la aerolínea durante la puesta en tierra de los nuevos aviones han sido resueltos a la satisfacción de la compañía caribeña: “Me atrevería a decir que lo hemos hecho bien, hasta donde sabemos, comparativamente hablando contra otras aerolíneas, en términos de lo que recibimos por compensación”, expresa el directivo. Cayman Airways también había recibido una “compensación adecuada” por un segundo período de inmovilización en tierra a pesar de que los aviones aún no se habían puesto en servicio.
Reestructuración
Los requisitos de otorgación de financiación de la aerolínea han contemplado la futura venta de sus dos aviones Boeing 737-300 (2) de su flota, alcanzando un plazo de vencimientos para servicios MRO a partir de 10/2021, fecha donde la compañía decidir si debe continuar con la flota de los 737 Classics o ponerlos a la venta. Además, Cayman Airlines ha recibido una compensación del fabricante The Boeing Company por la puesta en tierra del nuevo avión Boeing 737-8 MAX.
Los ingresos por las venta de activos, más compensaciones económicas de Boeing y las ayudad por valor de US$ 7 millones en fondos gubernamentales permitirían a la aerolínea continuar volando para finalizar una pronta recuperación. Bajo el plan de reapertura del Gobierno, los acuerdos de Cielos Abiertos estarán en vigor a partir del 9 de Septiembre de 2021, lo que abriría el acceso a la Isla Caimán para operaciones de otras aerolíneas y reduciría al mismo tiempo la presión sobre Cayman Airways.
