Avianca recibirá hasta 138 aeronaves entre 2025 y 2031

La aerolínea Avianca Airlines ha confirmado un nuevo pedido de 88 nuevos aviones Airbus A320NEO, con opciones de compra para 50 aviones adicionales. Avianca recibirá hasta 138 aeronaves entre 2025 y 2031. La nueva flota de A320NEO de Avianca ofrecerá tres tipos de asientos: Premium, Plus y Economy. Actualmente, Avianca está reconfigurando más de 90 aviones de fuselaje estrecho, instalando nuevos asientos plus y económicos. Según la aerolínea, actualmente A320 (26) tienen esta configuración de asiento y se utilizan en vuelos domésticos en toda América del Sur. A finales de este año, el proceso de reconfiguración estará completo. Además, los A320NEO de Avianca utilizarán aproximadamente un 20% menos de combustible y reducirán hasta 900 toneladas de CO2 emitidas por año.

Avianca cuenta actualmente con una flota de 143 aeronaves, operando con sucursales en Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador y El Salvador. La aerolínea tiene 122 aviones comerciales de pasajeros de fuselaje estrecho, doce de fuselaje ancho y siete aviones de carga. Avianca cuenta con la tercera flota más grande de América Latina, detrás de Latam Airlines Group y Azul Linhas Aéreas. Avianca cuenta actualmente con un lista de orden de aeronaves vigentes por dos aviones Boeing B787-9 Dreamliner (2) no entregados, que deberían llegar a la compañía en 2024. Su pedido más significativo, sin embargo, es con el fabricante europeo Airbus Group.

En un comunicado, Avianca confirmó su compromiso de encargar ochenta y ocho nuevos aviones de la familia Airbus A320NEO (88) al fabricante europeo. El acuerdo también incluye una opción de compra para 50 aviones adicionales. El pedido y las confirmaciones están en línea con el plan de negocios de Avianca que incluye la operación de más de 200 rutas principalmente punto a punto y más de 130 aviones para 2025.

La aerolínea sudamericana salió de un procedimiento de bancarrota del Capítulo 11 en 2021 y ahora está lista para implementar su plan de reorganización. El objetivo de la nueva aerolínea será ofrecer lo mejor de los modelos de bajo costo y clásico en una sola empresa. Avianca Airlines has confirmed a new order for 88 new Airbus A320NEO aircraft, with purchase options for an additional 50 aircraft. Avianca will receive up to 138 aircraft between 2025 and 2031. Avianca’s new A320NEO fleet will offer three types of seats: Premium, Plus and Economy. Avianca is currently reconfiguring more than 90 narrow-body aircraft, installing new plus and economy seats. According to the airline, currently A320 (26) have this seat configuration and are used on domestic flights throughout South America. By the end of this year, the reconfiguration process will be complete. In addition, Avianca’s A320NEOs will use approximately 20% less fuel and will reduce up to 900 tons of CO2 emitted per year.

Avianca currently has a fleet of 143 aircraft, operating with branches in Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador and El Salvador. The airline has 122 narrow-body, 12 wide-body and seven freighter commercial airliners. Avianca has the third largest fleet in Latin America, behind Latam Airlines Group and Azul Linhas Aéreas. Avianca currently has a current aircraft order list for two undelivered Boeing B787-9 Dreamliner aircraft (2), which should reach the company in 2024. Its most significant order, however, is with the European manufacturer Airbus Group.

In a statement, Avianca confirmed its commitment to order eighty-eight new Airbus A320NEO family aircraft (88) from the European manufacturer. The deal also includes an option to purchase an additional 50 aircraft. The order and confirmations are in line with Avianca’s business plan that includes the operation of more than 200 routes, mainly point-to-point, and more than 130 aircraft by 2025.

The South American airline emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings in 2021 and is now ready to implement its reorganization plan. The objective of the new airline will be to offer the best of the low-cost and classic models in a single company. Rohit Philip, Chief Financial Officer of Avianca, said: “This is great news for our company, our people and our customers, considering that the A320NEO family is the most advanced single-aisle fleet in terms of efficiency, reliability and comfort. This order highlights that we continue to make the necessary investments to grow our network in line with our business plan”.
