El aeropuerto de Birmingham registra año más 
activo en su historia
Once millones de pasajeros han pasado por el centro de transporte desde agosto de 2015, con el aeropuerto ya 12 millones de orientación sobre el año que viene
El aeropuerto de Birmingham dice que ha registrado los más activos de 12 meses para los pasajeros en sus 77 años de historia.
El centro de transporte dio la bienvenida a 11 millones de pasajeros por el aeropuerto durante el año pasado, sólo 12 meses después de romper la marca de diez millones de dólares en agosto pasado.
Comparando el mismo período entre 2014 y 2015, 10,2 por ciento más de personas han viajado a través del aeropuerto debido a las aerolíneas incrementar la capacidad y el lanzamiento de nuevos servicios hacia y desde Birmingham.
El aeropuerto también ha registrado su mayor actividad los días hasta la fecha el 19 de agosto de 2016, cuando 44.767 fueron registrados – 14,1 por ciento más que el último día de mayor actividad registrada el 13 de agosto de 2015.
El presidente ejecutivo de Birmingham Aeropuerto Paul Kehoe dijo: «Llegar a agosto de diez millones de pasajeros el pasado fue un gran hito en la historia del aeropuerto, pero llegar a 11 millones es un cambio de juego absoluta.
«Esto demuestra que la demanda de volar hacia y desde la región central está aumentando rápidamente y esto sólo se espera que continúe como la inversión nacional e internacional en la región continúa y las potencias del motor en Midlands».
«Hemos celebrado una gran cantidad de logros recientemente, incluyendo la bienvenida a un sorprendente 13 nuevas líneas aéreas al aeropuerto, la creación de una red aún más fuerte de las rutas globales».
«El futuro es emocionante como nos centramos en el próximo hito – 12 millones de pasajeros – y estaremos trabajando muy duro durante el próximo año para ofrecer aún más la conectividad para los viajeros de negocios y de ocio de nuestra región».
Durante los últimos 12 meses, el tráfico de larga distancia del Aeropuerto de Birmingham se ha incrementado en un 26 por ciento, con especial crecimiento observado en los servicios a Oriente Medio (34,1 por ciento), América del Norte (32,6 por ciento) y Europa (10,8 por ciento).
Los vuelos de bajo coste se incrementaron en un 11,5 por ciento, los servicios en general creció el 6,9 por ciento y de alquiler en un 2,4 por ciento previsto.
El pasajero 11.0000.00o fue James Sheffield, de Edgbaston, que viajó a través del aeropuerto el viernes pasado, cuando se haya presentado para un vuelo a San Francisco a través de Newark. El pasajero fue tratado en el aeropuerto con una comida y champán.

Birmingham Airport says it has recorded the busiest 12 months for passengers in its 77-year history.
The transport hub welcomed 11 million passengers through the airport over the past year, just 12 months after breaking the ten million mark last August.
Comparing the same period between 2014 and 2015, 10.2 per cent more people have travelled through the airport due to airlines increasing capacity and launching new services to and from Birmingham.
The airport has also recorded its busiest single day to date on August 19, 2016, when 44,767 were recorded – 14.1 per cent more than the last busiest day recorded on the August 13, 2015.
Birmingham Airport’s chief executive Paul Kehoe said: «Reaching ten million passengers last August was a big milestone in the airport’s history but reaching 11 million is an absolute game changer.
«It shows that demand for flying to and from the Midlands is rapidly rising and this is only expected to continue as national and international investment in the region continues and the Midlands Engine powers on».
«We have celebrated a huge amount of accomplishments recently, including welcoming an astonishing 13 new airlines to the airport, creating an even stronger network of global routes».
«The future is exciting as we focus on the next milestone – 12 million passengers – and we will be working very hard over the next year to deliver even more connectivity for our region’s business and leisure travellers.«
Over the last 12 months, long-haul traffic from Birmingham Airport has increased by 26 per cent, with particular growth seen on services to the Middle East (+34.1 per cent), North America (+32.6 per cent) and Europe (+10.8 per cent).
Low cost flights increased by 11.5 per cent, scheduled services overall grew by 6.9 per cent and charter by 2.4 per cent.
The 11 millionth passenger was James Sheffield, from Edgbaston, who travelled via the airport last Friday when he checked in for a flight to San Francisco via Newark. He was treated by the airport to a meal and magnum of champagne. A\W
