Delta Air Lines podría prolongar la flota de los Boeing 717 hasta el 2030

Delta Air Lines está analizando acerca del futuro de los 91 aeronaves Boeing 717 en su flota, 88 operativas y 3 almacenados. El modelo es una versión actualizada derivada de la prestigiosa línea MD-80/MD-90. Delta incorporó la mayoría de los Boeing 717-200 de AirTran Airways, cuando Southwest Airlines se hizo cargo de la aerolínea. AirTran Airways fue una aerolínea que inicialmente comenzó a recibir los 717 a finales de los 90.

Delta Air Lines podría mantener la línea 717 hasta 2030 donde la vida operativa de estos aviones alcanzaría los 30 años. Aunque la mayoría de las líneas aéreas tienen una tendencia a la renovación de su flota, Delta, como la mayoría de las grandes compañías, adoptan un enfoque diferente en la conservación de un número considerado de un modelo dentro de la flota.

Arribando el A220

Delta Air Lines ha sido por mucho tiempo una compañía que ha empleado las aeronaves McDonnell Douglas desde los primeros modelos jet como los DC-9, pasando por los MD-80 y MD-90, hasta llegar al Boeing 717-200, anteriormente denominado de fábrica MD-95. Ahora, mantener el 717 por más tiempo en la flota se aproximaría a las prestaciones del nuevo avión regional Airbus A220. Delta tiene un total de 95 órdenes para el A220, A220-100 (45) con capacidad para 109 pasajeros y A220-300 (50) con una capacidad de 130 asientos. Los Boeing 717 tienen una configuración de 110 asientos.

Delta Air Lines ha considerado continuar manteniendo sus Boeing 717 por su costo de operación y altos índices de seguridad, aunque se encuentran en la franja cercana a los A220, que seguramente al ser aeronaves regionales más modernas, tienen costos operativos más bajos. De todas maneras, Delta continuará con los Boeing 717 prolongando la vida de la famosa línea de Long Beach.

Delta Air Lines is analyzing the future of the 91 Boeing 717 aircraft in its fleet, 88 operational and 3 stored. The model is an updated version derived from the prestigious MD-80 / MD-90 line. Delta incorporated most of the Boeing 717-200 of AirTran Airways when Southwest Airlines took over the airline. AirTran Airways was an airline that initially began receiving 717 in the late 90’s.

Delta Air Lines could keep line 717 until 2030 where the operational life of these aircraft would reach 30 years. Although most airlines have a tendency to renew their fleet, Delta, like most large companies, takes a different approach to the conservation of a considered number of a model within the fleet.
