Familia Boeing 737FG/SG(*) deben someterse a mantenimiento integral

Orientación propuesta por la FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) , el regulador de la aviación en los Estados Unidos requiere que las aerolíneas reemplazar los compartimentos de equipaje que afectan a los 1.087 aviones Boeing 737-100/200/300/400/500 que vuelan por el mundo. La decisión se produce después de varios reportes informan que los nichos se separaban de la cabina y provoca lesiones a los pasajeros.

Este SAFO (Safety Alert for Operation) notifica al personal de mantenimiento de una situación potencialmente peligrosa que puede causar lesiones graves y daños a la aeronave cuando la cubierta de vuelo de techo se desprende por motivo de que las pinzas que sujetan los conductos están incorrectamente colocada. El Manual Boeing Aircraft Maintenance (AMM) Capítulo 21, Sección 21-22-09, advierte que la instalación de la salida de aire «Gasper», tiene numerosas advertencias y figura las ilustraciones para ayudar en la instalación apropiada.

Los compartimentos situados encima de los asientos, donde se encuentra el sistema de iluminación, salidas de aire acondicionado y máscaras de oxígeno; y otros componentes. De acuerdo con estimaciones de la FAA, las reparaciones que participan en la flota tendrán un costo de aproximadamente $ 27 millones.

En Estados Unidos, las empresas más afectadas serán el Southwest y Alaska Airlines, que operan exclusivamente de la familia 737.
