JetSmart Argentina se queda con la arolínea low cost Norwegian Air Argentina
JetSmart Airlines Argentina se queda con la operación de Norwegian Air Argentina. La noticia acerca de un posible retiro del mercado argentino se ha concretado por parte del grupo noruego, después de eiterados problemas financieros que han involucrado a la empresa matriz Norwegian Shuttle ASA y la crisis económica de Argentina han trminado por asfixiar a la jovn línea aérea local.

Después del despegue hacia una economía abierta en Argnina, las líneas aéreas parmitirían volar a destinos domésticos e internaciones impensados, pero los vaivenes económicos de Agnina, ha truncado la “Revolución de los Aviones”.

Si bien por estás horas aún hay conversaciones finales entre Chile, desde donde controla el negocio regional de JetSmart; Buenos Aires, donde está en este momento su CEO, el guatemalteco Estuardo Ortíz, y Oslo, la capital noruega, la venta se anunciará en una conferencia de prensa convocada para este mediodía en un hotel de Retiro. Aún no trascendió el monto, pero fuentes del mercado aseguran que incluirá el traspaso del total del negocio: las rutas y, en principio, la absorción de los 200 empleados de la empresa en el país. Norwegian, por su parte, se va del país.
JetSmart Argentina es parte de Indigo Partners, un fondo de inversión privado basado en Phoenix, Arizona, en EEUU, que invierte en aviación de bajo costo desde hace 15 años y fue fundado por el empresario aeronáutico Bill Franke. Indigo transporta 1,4 millones de pasajeros y controla otras compañías de bajo costo, como Wizz Air (Europa), Volaris (México) y Frontier Airlines (Estados Unidos). La operación regional tiene base en Chile, donde opera 13 rutas desde 2017. JetSmart llegó a la Argentina en 2018 luego de comprar la empresa Alas del Sur, que ya tenía rutas otorgadas por el Gobierno.
“Queremos convencer a la gente de que se puede viajar en un avión nuevo, seguro, confiable y llegar a tiempo por pocos pesos. Hay cierta tendencia a pensar que bajos costos es baja calidad, y no es así. Nuestro modelo de negocios, comprobado en varias partes del mundo, está basado en invertir en calidad y confiabilidad. Y aviones nuevos. Se puede tener precios más bajos y llegar a un público que no existía, a un mercado que no volaba. La clase media quiere volar, pero no puede”, le dijo el año pasado a Infobae Ortíz, CEO de JetSmart Airlines.
Norwegian, otra víctima
Norwegian Air Argentina inició sus operaciones en 10/2018 se va del país en medio de un contexto económico local desfavorable para el sector y una situación compleja del grupo al que pertenece, para una compañía que busca el equilibrio financiero y que está readecuando operaciones en Europa. También la golpeó el escándalo de las fallas de los Boeing 737 MAX que obligó que 18 de los aviones no puedan volar desde comienzos de este año. Las versiones de su salida cobraron fuerza hace unos días, cuando sitios especializados detectaron que sólo vendía tickets hasta fines de Marzo 2020. Según trascendió esta mañana, la operación se mantendrá y los pasajes vendidos serán válidos. Sólo que ahora los aviones y los boarding pass tendrán el nombre de JetSmart.
